3 reasons to use our Overnight Gel Mask

Jam-packed with calming and hydration heroes, the Overnight Gel Mask really is a savior for dry and angry skin.

Ceramides

Ceramides are very super important lipids (oils) that are naturally occurring in your skin, and when applied topically, can help to maintain the integrity of the skin barrier and hold hydration in the skin. Ceramides play such an important role when it comes to protecting and maintaining a healthy skin barrier. They make up 30% to 40% of your outer skin layer and help to shield your skin from dehydration.

When Ceramide levels drop (aging or environmental factors) your skin can become dry, and irritated & leaving you open to acne, eczema, rosacea & psoriasis.

Applying Ceramides topically can help to repair and replenish the skin barrier & balance your skin's naturally occurring ceramide levels.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is hydrating and moisturising & assists in the production of collagen, helping the skin look plump, smooth, hydrated, firm, and elastic. HA has antibacterial properties which can help to protect the skin from environmental exposure, aids in water retention, and encourages skin cell renewal.

This hungry little molecule loves to draw in water & because of its size, it can penetrate and deliver moisture into the layers of the skin, therefore hydrating, and plumping out drab & dry skin.

Don't let the word 'acid' fool you, this lovely ingredient is a champion for your skin and hydration needs & will make friends with other ingredients, especially Mists!

Squalane (the vegan type!)

Squalane (with an 'a') is a lipid that naturally occurs in our own skin, but due to aging can diminish over time.

Quick chemistry lesson for you - Squalene (with an 'e') is the naturally occurring lipid found in olives, rice bran, sugarcane & Shark livers. In this form, Squalene can go rancid and isn't suitable for products, so clever chemists use hydrogenation to convert Squalene into Squalane which is then a more stable form of the lovely lipid.

We mention this because it is extremely important to note our squalane is sourced from Olives. I don't know any shark that would be happy to hand over their livers in exchange for us humans to have a more youthful & hydrated appearance.

The benefits of Squalane are vast but especially for acne-prone skin, this oil is lightweight & non-comedogenic meaning it won't clog pores. Squalane also boasts anti-inflammatory properties which are great news for eczema and psoriasis sufferers.

While you sleep is the perfect time to heal and hydrate your dry skin. Check out the Moisture Magic Overnight Gel Mask here.
